Northamptonshire Breweries

Find your next favourite brewery in Northamptonshire

You will find over 15 different breweries across this Midlands county with clusters of great beer in the towns of Northampton, Kettering and Towcester. You will find a mixture of old and new, of traditional and modern, craft beer and real ale. Why limit yourself, though? Dive in and take a look around all the options.

In the heart of the county lies Northampton, which is home to Maule Brewing Co, a new wave brewery which started making beer in 2014. They produce a series of vibrantly tasting and looking beers, many of which are pale ales and IPAs adopting a number of tropical hop varieties.

If you head due South West of Northampton you will find two other great local breweries, Towcester Mill and Great Oakley. The former is a community hub with the brewery, taproom, brewery shop, tours, events and membership all open to the public.

The building in which Towcester Mill operates is just over 200 years old, but their beers are of modern standards and have been recognised with a number of awards including Winner of the ‘New Local Drink of the Year’ category at the 2018/19 Carlsberg UK Northamptonshire Food & Drinks Awards for Rubio. Rubio is a 4.4% red ale inspired by a Towcester horse taxi to Grand National winner.

Great Oakley Brewery sits just outside Towcester in Tiffield and is run by passionate brewer and business owner Guy Jenkins. Much like Towcester, Great Oakley has been recognised for its great beer many times, almost year-after-year by SIBA. In 2018 it won 4 SIBA Gold and 2 SIBA Silver awards for its full range, pretty good going!
