Brewing since 1983 from humble beginnings in Bigbury-on-Sea, then moving to Plymouth in 1985, we are now the city’s oldest brewery with a provenance as distinctive as our award winning brews. Our symbol honours the coat of arms of Bigbury landowners and the badge of HMS Bigbury Bay. Almost four decades on we’re still humble and still love brewing great handcrafted real ales. We source the best local ingredients including West Country malted barley and create our beers using a traditional process steeped in the history of micro-brewing.
Signature beer
Indiana’s Bones, 5.6% ABV
Born as a winter warmer, its enduring popularity throughout the year has seen this perfectly balanced, rich and full-bodied dark ruby ale with a sweet malty finish become a Summerskills staple.
Its strong, distinctive character blends crystal and dark malts to provide colour and sweetness, balanced by the subtle bitterness of traditional Goldings hops and modern kick of Phoenix hops in the hopback. With notes of mild spice, chocolate and molasses, as well as pine and floral aromas, this complex bitter is waiting to be discovered.
