Founded in 2010 and with a new team at the helm in 2018, Lyme Regis Brewery makes its beer in a peerless part of the south west with the sea lapping at the shores of this most pretty of towns and the Jurassic Coast stretching away like a slumbering giant to the south east.
'The brewery is based in the Town Mill in what used to be part of an ancient malt house'
It has a threefold approach to the beers it makes. First of all, there’s purity, with the brewing process additive free; secondly, the team is rightly keen on sustainability — natural spring water is used for brewing; log fired heating is used to heat hot water and the tap room is based in a water mill that generates green energy from the local river. Finally, fun is important for owners Adam, Dan, Elliott and Wes, with the aim being to create beers that bring friends and families together, grafted onto a passion for the local community, organisations and charities. Then there are the beers with its award-winning products including the light easy-drinking 2.9% bitter Cobb, the 4.2% shimmering golden ale Lyme Gold and the more bracing IPA Revenge (5.3%). Drink these and have fun.
